To smell it is quite big and well-rounded. There are notes of chewy sultanas and Sherried peels, barley sugars and toasty cereals with petals and apple blossom. A touch of fudge and gentle wisps of smoke. The palate is full and rich with notes of chewy, tannic oak. Manuka honey and walnut with Coxs apples and orange peels. Cut herbs - fennel and spearmint. Long and dry with a spicy oak note.
Soft, clean and refreshing: lemon sherbet and apricots, with honeyed fruit and a touch of toffee and vanilla. Gentle and satisfying. A little weightier on the palate, with honey and malt, banana bread and subtle sweet spices. Clean and well balanced. The honeyed fruit fades softly, and the finish is whistle-clean.
Vanilla with hints of ginger, dried fruits, sherry sweetness and wood smoke. Deliciously smooth, with rich dried fruits and sherry, balanced with wood smoke and spice. Sweet toffee, dried fruits, lingering wood smoke and spice.
Clean and fresh, with heather honey, pears, a touch of toffee and a soft floral note. Bright and fruity, but also rich, with notes of steamed syrup pudding and sponge cake, with a little cinnamon and nutmeg. Just enough spice to match the fruit. Lovely balance.
On the nose this Whisky is spicy and peppery, but theres a richness behind it, with spicy oak and soft orange fruitiness, and soft vanilla notes from the bourbon cask. Grainy sweetness and candied orange peel, quite rich, accompanied by rich cinnamon and clove. Great balance, this really needs a little water to allow the flavours to unfurl.
Toffee popcorn wafts out of the glass, with some sweet spice from the oak and hint of candied orange peel. Some fresh lemon zestiness brightens things up, along with that classic Auchentoshan grassiness. Soft and silky mouthfeel, with pronounced coconut and toffee notes. The sweet spice continues on to the palate, but no hard edges here. Very easy drinking. Sweet spice and toffee, with a lingering citrus-tinged freshness.
Powerful peat-smoke with sea-water saltiness, the liquor of fresh oysters, a citrus sweetness. Full texture with a rich dried-fruit sweetness with clouds of smoke and strong barley-malt flavours, warming and intense. At the back of the mouth is an explosion of pepper. Huge, long, warming peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
On the nose a rich peaty smoke with slight saline seaweed. To taste the initial smoky nature is in the forefront with a seaweed undertone, a surprising sweetness that lingers in the finish. To some extent this is the quintessential Islay malt.
Smelling this whisky is incredible! Citrus fruit and fudge come to the forefront with a delicate malt in the undertones. The palate is smooth, seriously smooth. Fudge and citrus balance well with malt that rolls around the mouth like syrup. A slightly spicy finish with layered honey and a touch of vanilla.
Fragrant wood smoke and peaches combine with honey and barley scent to make the depth on the nose pronounced. Viscous and slight spice combine with a light flavour of peach and vanilla pod. To finish the smoke makes another appearance and the lingering taste of stewed peach.
It unveils orange, plum, more caramel, honey, and vanilla sweetness in addition to the existing wood, pine, and mint. Eagle Rare 10 Year definitely gets better with air and chewing. Theres also a lightly nutty taste mixed with stewed corn.
Palate Very thick and rich. A massive mouthful of malt and Sherry with good fruity sweetness, but also a wonderful sweetness. Big, powerful peat and oak. Finish Long, spicy finish, figs, dates, peat smoke, vanilla.
