Fruity esters kick things off, with brown sugar caramelising in a pan, earthy vanilla pod and a handful of cinnamon sticks following on. Green apple, stem ginger and buttery biscuits. Dry spices linger on the finish, with a final hint of banana fritter.
Light and good notes of pineapple, toffee, hint of oak and a blast of alcohol. On the palate it is mild with light tropical fruit balanced with a sticky vanilla, there is a slight astringency. To finish the forward fruit disappears leaving an oak and charcoal residue.
Characteristics of oak barrel staves with the essence of bourbon or brandy, a hint of smoke from the charring process, background notes of dried fruit and heavy delivery of sweet creamy butterscotch.
