French Red

A fresh, pretty and youthful red wine that will mellow as it develops in the bottle. Supple yet with underlying structure, it is quite lifted on the nose with raspberry and floral notes. Packed full of ripe, crunchy red berry fruit backed up with a hint of liquorice and touch of spice. Fresh, elegant and pleasingly simple.

This is a fabulous Gigondas, very powerful with ripe, weighty tannins, the whole aged in large oak foudres for that added patina. Open well in advance and preferably decant.

Its deep red hue with glints of violet unleashes a powerful nose dominated by red fruits and subtly loaded with delicate oak aromas from the barrels. On the palate, the frank and youthfully fruity attack is taken up by supple and rounded tannins.

The faintest touch of smoke and the slightest lick of vanilla mingle with strawberry compote on the nose. The palate is a little smoky, too, but reveals crisp, fresh red fruit. At six years of age this wine is now hitting its stride, still with a little crunch of tannins and enviable freshness. It is ripe but elegant. The finish suggests autumnal leaves and real Pinot earthiness

Concentrated aromas of red berries and sweet spices, flavours of ripe raspberry, blackberry and vanilla and soft tannins which are ideal with cheese.

Intense cassis fruit and new oak on the nose leads to a full-flavoured, ripe palate with smooth tannins and plush vanilla oak finish.

Vibrant ruby hues gleam out of the glass. The first notes on the nose are of crushed blueberries which then develop on to reveal an intriguing bitter-sweet character of creme de cassis with a touch of underlying parma violets. Fine red-fruits fill the mouth; cranberries and a touch of cocoa nib on the lifted finish.

Instant first impressions are of a classic southern French red; friendly and warming, raspberry and damson fruit, typical of Grenache, are sprinkled with the darker fruit and spice of Syrah.

Deliciously ripe fruit with flavours of prunes, a touch of Earl Grey and bergamont; the tannins supple and the finish is fresh - a characterful, good value red reflecting well the terroir of this domaine.

Elegant and expressive with a nose of vibrant black fruit, aniseed and hints of smoke and violet, the 2018 vintage has a lovely intensity of fruit held by a taut acidity and fine-grained tannins. The finish is poised and persistent.

Fuller than Pinot Noir from Burgundy, it has a warm, rich nose with aromas of black cherry compote. The palate is nicely balanced with an exciting, savoury streak provided by ripe, tasty tannins.

A pretty, translucent ruby colour with earthy, strawberry fruit and a light pepperyness on the nose. Mouthwatering acidity balances the moderate gentle ripe tannins and elegant, pure, somewhat savoury red fruit.

Rich red fruit aromas - cherry, ripe raspberry and a dusting of warm spice - with a full-bodied palate packed with lovely pure fruit flavours, enhanced by the well-judged oak and smooth tannins on the finish.

This croquant Cinsault is bright and deliciously enjoyable. Unoaked, vibrant redcurrant and raspberry fruit with a wild, delicately tannic herbaceous edge.
